Pressure washing or jet washing has been the go to method for cleaning patios for awhile. Pressure washing is great for instant results but there are some caveats. The main problem with pressure washing patios is that it will erode the grout between the slaps. If your grout is particularly weak already then it will lift out all of the loose grout altogether. It’s also not a particularly economic option for cleaning your patio but there is a halfway house.

Soft washing patios with chemical:

If an instant clean finish is not a massive priority and you’d rather not destroy your grout you can decide to opt for a chemical spray only on your patio. Our chemicals managed to get underneath the stain whilst killing all vegetation lying on the slabs within minutes. See the results of this patio chemical spray we conducted in Guildford. These are the results within 20 minutes of application. Now, it’s not perfect but please remember that all vegetation on the slab including black spot,lichen and algae have been killed and softened. Over the coming months the remainder of the stain will recede and the results will be similar to jet washing by summertime. 

Annual chemical treatments:

Moving forward if our client decides to sterilise the patio with chemicals annually the stain won’t be so bad and we can expect potentially an instant clean appearance within minutes of application because the vegetation isn’t so ingrained in the tile as long as you keep up with regular sterilisations. this is great because jet washing is are more expensive option compared to chemical treatment and takes more time and of course it will not disrupt the grout!
